In this panel TIAG is aiming at developing a knowledge base by applying some principles of Knowledge Management with a view to create an added value from output of networking for benefit of its members. Knowledge Management (KM) is defined as the process of creating, sharing, using and managing the knowledge and information of an organization. It refers to a multidisciplinary approach to achieve organisational objectives such as e.g. improved performance, competitive advantageinnovation,  etc. by making the best use of knowledge.

It is evident that a voluntary network of experts  with a loose structure has no organisational objectives but as you all know knowledge is the power and TIAG cannot leave this aspect aside, although it does not pretend to play any powerful role in transport infrastructure developments. Nevertheless, TIAG should provide an added value otherwise it will be not attractive neither for partners nor external visitors. KNOWLEDGE BASE to be developed from input of its partners and output of networking can be considered as an asset of TIAG proving its added value.

The intention is to gather and structure knowledge either as tacit owned by individuals or explicit - owned or able to access by TIAG partners and thus step by step to develop its own Knowledge Base. Individual members of network have certainly valuable tacit knowledge of transport infrastructure technologies based on their long-term experience and access to relevant information they contributed to build up and create as important players over the years. Even with a loose structure TIAG members are owning thus unprecedented information which may be of benefit for sharing and thus also encouraging others to contribute in building a knowledge base accessible free of charge in this panel of TIAG.

TIAG members also proved its knowledge in institutions where they have been active and/or as consultants to public bodies and to private sector in numerous European countries and world-wide. They have knowledge of supply chain optimisation, performance, and risk analysis, planning and monitoring tools, etc. to deliver increased efficiency of intra-modal infrastructure projects from concept to deployment. With its knowledge they have also contributed to the development of KM systems with IT for one international professional association.

However, provision of knowledge for advice/consultancy is not the main objective of this panel. Here we would like primarily to share a tacit knowledge of practitioners with research and university experts to promote research and innovation towards tangible results ready for market uptake. This is an ambitious objective we may not achieve but at least we will try to encourage those entering our website to share this knowledge and TIAG members to develop all activities towards objectives of this panel.

You are welcomed to channel any request for information and/or your contributions through our website contact page or directly to leader who will process any input in structured way in our network knowledge base for benefit of all members and transport infrastructure community.
