There is no need to underline the importance of research and innovations at any level – for European growth, national economies, industrial and social activities both in private and public sectors starting from basic research at universities, research centres and laboratories to serve as a basis for applied research ending by market uptake of tangible results for increasing prosperity of society.
We are well aware of diversification of research needs depending on technological, social, environmental targets of society and on other side driven by business objectives in competitive industrial environment. We are also not going to enter subjects of maturity of research with various classifications as applied by research community.
In our network we intend to offer our professional knowledge and experience gained through long-term involvement of our members in research activities such as managing and/or participating in numerous EC projects, managing and/or working in international research institutions, managing national research centres but also working as experts, being researchers at universities, etc. for sharing it in specific fields related transport infrastructure. Communication and sharing information are important as it may save time and efforts in formulating future research needs and programs avoiding duplication and focusing on priorities. Information on completed projects either successful with market uptake or even without any clear benefit in relation to any proposed future projects would also not only help to focus any project to the achievable targets but also provide the lessons to be learned from failures.
This is exactly what TIAG as network of experts being involved not only in research projects but also being responsible for their application and evaluations of market uptake may offer. This information is inherited as a tacit knowledge in expertise of TIAG members but the members of TIAG have also the access to the project databases they helped to developed and many completed projects they have been involved. Their knowledge on completion, adjustment, and testing of innovative solutions under normal operational conditions of railways cannot be overestimated.
It is also worth mentioning that knowledge and expertise of some TIAG members is used for assessment of project proposals for EC funding and evaluation of EC projects in progress and completed.
You are welcomed to channel any for information and/or your contributions through our website contact page and/or directly to leader of this panel who has experience from both sides as being on industrial side to evaluate the benefit and potential for application of research results as chairman of the relevant international body but also being involved in research as Senior Expert of national research centre.
